Sumitomo Australia Group has taken out the top honour at the Supplier of the Year awards organised by the peak body representing the Australian automotive industry, the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI).
The awards ceremony was held at the Melbourne Town Hall with guests of honour, the Victorian Minister for Industry and Trade, Martin Pakula and Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Innovation and Industry, Richard Marles.
“The awards are an important opportunity to thank our suppliers for a job well done and to celebrate their achievements,” FCAI Chief Executive Andrew McKellar said.
“The three finalists are exactly the sort of innovative and successful businesses that we need in the automotive supply chain,” he said.
“Congratulations to the winner Sumitomo Australia Group – the challenges of the past 12 months make this year’s award even more significant,” Mr McKellar said.
The awards were instigated by the vehicle manufacturers to encourage suppliers to consistently perform at the highest possible level in terms of product quality, on time delivery, competitive pricing, management planning and commitment to excellence and project management.
The purchasing directors and senior managers of Ford, GM Holden and Toyota have the task of judging the Supplier of the Year nominees and all three finalists met and in some cases exceeded their very high expectations.
