Compulsory Takata (PSAN) Airbag Recall
1. Will this cost me anything?
No. Replacements are free of charge. All vehicles affected by the Takata recall will be recalled and rectified on a rolling basis to allow the airbag(s) to be replaced at no cost to you. Priority for recalls and replacements is given to vehicles that present the highest safety risk.
Contact your vehicle brand or visit Product Safety Australia for more information.

2. What does it mean if my car is affected?
As many as two in every seven cars in Australia have been fitted with faulty Takata airbags that have the potential to seriously injure or even kill their drivers and passengers.
Your vehicle brand will contact you when it’s time to arrange for a replacement airbag. Make sure your brand has your correct contact details.
If you are affected by the recall you need to check with the vehicle brand whether your vehicle:
- Is under active recall for replacement now,
- Will be recalled in the future,
- Has already had the recall completed, or
- Is listed as critical and needs replacement as soon as possible.
You are strongly urged to check whether or not your vehicle is currently under an active recall. Do not ignore or delay responding to recall communications from your vehicle brand.
Voluntary Takata (NADI 5-AT) Airbag Recall
1. What does it mean if my car is affected?
In the case of vehicles equipped with NADI 5-AT Takata airbags that are being voluntarily recalled, it is possible, because of the age of the vehicle that your brand may be unable to provide replacement airbags. In such cases, your brand will discuss alternative arrangements with you.
Your brand will contact you if your vehicle is included in the voluntary recall. Make sure your brand has your correct contact details.
