The Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) welcomes the additional $5.2 million investment in the Western Australian Government’s Zero Emissions Vehicle (ZEV) Rebate Scheme. The extension of this scheme is critical to a low emissions future and supporting Electric Vehicle (EV) uptake in Australia.
The ZEV Rebate Scheme, along with Western Australia’s ongoing investment in electric vehicle infrastructure, are critical steps towards reducing carbon emissions within the transport sector. These initiatives also support the adoption of EV’s and provide Western Australians certainty and reduce anxiety when purchasing a new technology.
We look forward to ongoing collaboration with government to ensure that the automotive industry continues to play a key role in achieving Australia’s pathway towards net zero. The FCAI is committed to supporting policies that encourage the growth of the EV market towards a low emissions technology future.
The scheme provides a $3,500 rebate for people who purchase an eligible vehicle and apply to the Department of Transport. As of 31 March 2024, over 5,900 rebate applications have been paid to EV owners.
Applications close on 10 May 2025. For more information, visit: https://www.transport.wa.gov.au/projects/zero-emission-vehicle-zev-rebate.asp
