The peak body representing the Australian automotive industry, the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI), has welcomed Ford Australia’s decision to continue producing engines at their Geelong plant.
“This is great news for Australia’s vehicle manufacturing industry and provides everyone involved with a boost of confidence,” FCAI Chief Executive Andrew McKellar said.
“It is an example of the skills and innovation within the Australian automotive industry and shows what can be achieved with the right policy framework,” he said.
“This is a demonstration of the engineering capabilities which will underpin the future of vehicle manufacturing in Australia,” Mr McKellar said.
“It reflects the commitment and determination that all local car makers have to continue to invest in the future of the industry in Australia,” Mr McKellar said.
“It will provide a vital boost to the Geelong community and is a great outcome for the 400 workers directly employed at the plant,” he said.
