Australia’s automotive industry has welcomed yesterday’s announcement of $400 million funding by the Victorian Government to consolidate the import and export auto trade at Webb Dock West.
Responding to the joint announcement by the Premier Ted Baillieu and the Minister for Ports Denis Napthine, the industry’s national association, FCAI, stated that a dedicated vehicle logistics area is critical to an efficient supply chain for the motor vehicle sector.
FCAI also indicated the industry looked forward to providing input to the project to ensure that a focus on cost efficiency is prevalent while delivering a state of the art facility in Australia’s automotive capital.
The welcome decision demonstrates the Victorian Government’s willingness to find a solution to the automotive trade which best met the needs of vehicle importers and exporters while providing benefits to the Victorian community.
On behalf of its Members, FCAI said that it looked forward to working with the Victorian Government to develop an outstanding logistics facility.
