The Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) has thanked outgoing Minister for Manufacturing, Senator Kim Carr, as he moves to the Human Services portfolio under the ministerial changes announced today by the Prime Minister.
“Senator Kim Carr has consistently been a passionate and committed supporter of the Australian automotive industry, and we are very grateful for his untiring efforts as our ministerial champion over the past four years,” said FCAI Chief Executive, Ian Chalmers.
“Minister Carr treated advocacy of the Australian car industry as a vocation, not just a job, and as a result he is viewed with enormous respect within the sector.
“His contribution is genuinely valued and he will be long-remembered.”
Also in response to the new ministry, Mr Chalmers welcomed the opportunity to continue the strong and productive working relationship that FCAI has already established with Industry Minister Combet.
“We have high regard for Greg Combet, and look forward to bringing the new Minister Assisting for Industry and Innovation, Senator Kate Lundy, up to speed with the industry’s issues, particularly in relation to policy certainty.
“Australia’s automotive industry has a long history of working productively with governments to maintain a strong and innovative local manufacturing industry,” said Mr Chalmers.
