The peak body representing the Australian automotive industry, the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) has thrown its support behind a Victorian initiative to promote motorcycle safety.
“The industry endorses the program and acknowledges its positive role in raising awareness of motorcycle safety to all road users,” FCAI Chief Executive Andrew McKellar said.
The Community Policing and Enforcement to Reduce Motorcycle Road Trauma Program will target motorcyclists and drivers, providing police with an opportunity to promote safe riding and motorcycle awareness.
“With sales of motorcycles at record highs there has never been a more important time to target rider safety,” Mr McKellar said.
“This is a good, community-based policing program that other states should look to adopt,” he said.
“The FCAI is represented on the Victorian Motorcycle Advisory Council and has worked closely with the Victorian Government and Police to get this program up and running and we commend those involved in the initiative,” Mr McKellar said.
